WWF -Vanke reached agreement on environmental protection and green sustainable development
Beijing, March 1, 2012 -- WWF and Vanke Group, the largest real estate developer in China, reached agreement on environmental protection and green sustainable development for 2012-2016.
The cooperation will focus on Qomolangma Conservation on Flagship Species, Climate Savers and GFTN. Jim Gradoville CEO of WWF China and Wang Shi, Chairman of Vanke Group signed the MoU at the launching ceremony.
"We believe there are cost-effective green strategies available to address future challenge, and that the WWF-Vanke partnership demonstrating such strategies is an important part of what’s necessary for sustainable development efforts to take hold in China" said Jim Gradoville, CEO of WWF China."The initiatives provide an opportunity to demonstrate corporate leadership and enhance long-term corporate competitiveness while at the same time protecting scarce natural resources."

Vanke is China’s biggest real estate developer, providing housing for 368000 home owners in 50 Chinese cities. In 2011, Vanke’s annual sales revenue totaled RMB120 billion. Vanke has advanced energy conservation in its own business and the real estate sector by switching to prefab homes and eco-homes. Vanke has taken the lead in developing and applying new technologies in renewable energy, forest conservation, carbon footprint reduction and biodiversity, etc.
